Riding in a Share
In this post-COVID lockdown era, employers are increasingly mandating office work causing public transportation and roads to be more congested than ever. Many of the cars on the road are not fully utilising their full capacity when many of the only containing one passenger, the driver. This project aims to address this issue by creating a ride-sharing app where users can anonymously pre-plan their trips for others to request to join. This should allow the driver to then cover some of the fuel or battery usage cost in this world where petrol and electricity prices seems to endlessly increase.
The app is designed to plan the most cost-effective routes and only allows users to join rides if it is convenient for the driver. It is built to be highly available and scalable, capable of accommodating a growing number of users.
Security is a quality attribute that is paramount feature of this app. Its architecture will need to be designed to resist attacks and securely store sensitive suer data, such as planned routes. This is to prevent potential misuse by malicious parties.

In this case, I will only consider sports that enable positional movement on land, such as running and cycling, as a way to maintain exercise habits. As a Stimufit user, you can select a shop that offers rewards as a destination on a map. Before the exercise begins the system calculates the amount of exertion throughout and shows you the expected results of the exercise and the level of rewards you can expect to receive. When you arrive at your destination you will receive a reward from the merchant and can choose to spend it in the moment. For example, Thomas is ready to start today’s workout and when he opens the map in the app he finds a subway restaurant 2km away from his home that is offering a coupon, so he sets this restaurant as the destination for his run. When he arrived at the subway after his run he immediately received a 15%off voucher, so that he received rewarding feedback immediately after the exercise was completed. According to the Pavlov effect, this will stimulate will help Thomas get into the habit of running every day. On the other hand, merchants add extra exposure while supporting the health concept of exercise for all, and posting coupons on Stimufit is a means for merchants to gain customer flow.
All in all, Stimufit to be served as a mobile phone app, it rewards users with different levels of physical consumer goods (e.g., coupons) by counting their exercise consumption, further achieving the goal of stimulating users to exercise. Ever have an idea that suddenly pops up in your mind but you can’t just wrap around your head such as “what is the starting point for me”, “where do I go from here”, “sigh, I got stuck”, etc. That sort of feeling is trivial, such things are the vital part for human complex development - getting lost, tickling your fancy. It’s splendid to get lost and finally achieve the Euréka, Aha moments.
But in the modern world, state-of-the-art techniques that we are living, where things around us and their movements are accelerated to the utmost extent possible by the abundance of information, activities, diverse knowledge, and, particularly, the continuous emergence of the buzzword “AI AI AI ai generative ai”.
Such pattern was there - it was the the industrial revolution of the steam engine era when workers transitioned from only or almost barely knowing how to read and write to being required to have mathematical and computational skills to adjust parameters like pressure and concentration. And that phenomenon is repeating itself now, and as a result, we must become more developed, continuously learn, and acquire more knowledge in order to always be in control of those situations.
But most of us are very easily to be exposed to information overload, burning out for the sake’s of catching up with everything, the fear of missing out, dunning kruger effect and finally burning out again. Or we can say that we want to do a lot of things for thriving but fear of feeling defeated.
We need something that can make us feel “related” and that rewards us like a leveling system, roadmap, a map to not get lost. Otherwise, we may give up, desiring so much but limited by our own abilities. We don’t know where to start or how to take the routes at the roundabout we are standing.
Having a guiding signpost or a “mentor”, “companion” always by our side to the greatest extent possible, while still retaining our autonomy, is an immensely important factor in addressing these challenges.
