TranslinkLink

TranslinkLink is a one-stop data source for public transport information, designed to accelerate development of passenger-facing displays—both physical signage and app/website views. Accurate, reliable, and up-to-date information is essential for a smooth public transport experience.

Broadly, TranslinkLink have two components: (1), a backend responsible for aggregating data from officially-provided feeds; and (2), multiple frontend modules which are purpose-built views of specific information (for example, station platform display or next stop displays). The backend will obtain its information from industry-standard sources (e.g., GTFS feeds), then make this data available through a documented and convenient API surface. The frontend views will render their displays by querying this API.

TranslinkLink has important non-functional requirements, arising from its vital role for public transport. These are: availability, the system must provide up-to-date information at all times; reliability, the system must detect and handle failures and disruptions to schedules; and interoperability, the system should support any public transport service with the appropriate data, and its back-/front-ends should should communicate with a well-defined API.

As rock climbing continues to grow more people find themselves searching for compatible climbing partners. WhosClimbing aims to provide a scalable software application that connects climbers based on their location and provides information on surrounding crags and gyms. Geolocation technologies will allow users to find partners and new climbing spots on a built in map. Client side rendering ensures the availability of data, allowing users to be notified of their friends activities live! Interoperability is highlighted by robust APIs which integrate real-time data from popular climbing applications (moon, kilter, tension, theCrag, Stókt) into users profiles.

Working in sales at Harvey Norman, one of the most common things that customers ask me is, “Can you do a better price?” Now, often I can save the customer a couple of dollars here and there, but the vast majority of items we sell can be found cheaper at competitors such as Officeworks and Amazon. This inspired me to design a piece of software that will allow users to make sure with 100% certainty that they are getting the best price on the market.

So, want to ensure that you’re getting the cheapest possible prices? Well, look no further — Fire Sale is here. Fire Sale will allow users to capture an image of any item and, using state-of-the-art image recognition, find that specific item on various online retailers and display a list of prices. This will guarantee that users get the cheapest possible price. And if the item still isn’t at a cost the user finds attractive? Don’t worry — the user can save that item and set price alerts, so once it is at or below the set price, they will receive a notification, allowing them to snap that deal up.

BrisVenture: Virtual Geocaching App

Did you know there are countless hidden stories, secrets, and adventures scattered throughout Brisbane?

BrisVenture is a mobile app that lets you discover these mysteries through interactive, real world treasure hunts. Users navigate to nearby “caches” (areas of interest) using a GPS map. Once there, the app unlocks location aware puzzles, trivia and stories tied directly to local landmarks, all created by the community. Each cache teaches you something new about Brisbane’s history and stories which are generally forgotten.

Successful completion “logs” the cache, and integrates with social features such as leaderboards and achievements, ensuring the experience is continously engaging. Simply navigate to a cache, answer geographic clues and questions provided by your phone, and log your discoveries. Seasonal updates and community contributed content ensure the app always offers new adventures, making exploring the city both fun and educational.

According to a study, Australia is one of the countries with highest incidence rate of skin cancer in the world, with at least two-thirds of Australians diagnosed with skin cancer at some point in their lives. However, regular professional skin diagnosis at the hospital is often time-consuming and costly, making it more challenage for Australians living in non-urban areas.

Artificial intelligence technology is developing rapidly and has demonstrated amazing capabilities in the fields such as image recognition and natural language processing. Based on this technological achievement, we aim to develop a skin cancer recognition application, SkinDoctor, to quickly diagnose suspicious moles and helping users determine whether medical consultation and professional diagnosis are necessary. “Ideas of the day” is a mobile app designed to promote the best daily ideas from around the world to a simple feed. Addressing the problem of information overload and short attention spans, this application will be designed to limit users to one 300-character post per day, promoting quality over quantity. Users can engage with the dialogue by promoting or downvoting posts, and responding with their own. All posts are either manually or automatically categorised into a discrete number of domains to facilitates people’s individuality and interests.

You can filter the movie options by genre, length and by streaming platform, to ensure the chosen movie is exactly what everyone in your group wants to watch!

Ever been out with your friends, looking for a new cafe to try out, but stuck finding one that’s just right? Introducing Cafe Haven - an application designed to help you find the perfect cafe in an instant!

With Cafe Haven, you can see nearby cafes in your vicinity using a map-based interface. And if you’re looking for a specific place - don’t worry - search through the app’s vast cafe directory to find exactly what you need. Additional features include the ability to browse a particular cafe’s menu, opening hours as well as their reviews. You can even filter cafes based on ratings or location and save your favourite ones.

This app will be available both on mobile and as a web app, allowing it to reach as many users as possible. The quality attributes are Availability, Scalability and Extensibility.

Tissue Tracker

Have you ever experienced not storing enough tissue and toilet paper before Cyclone Alfred? Ever gone to Woolworths store after store only to find the toilet paper shelves empty?

Tissue Tracker is a supermarket stock checker designed to help users check toilet paper stock levels in Woolworths supermarkets across Australia. Inspired by the toilet paper supply issues exposed during Cyclone Alfred, Tissue Tracker reduces unnecessary supermarket visits and optimises the shopping experience for customers.

AgriMarket Live

Farmers’ markets are a great idea that everyone can get behind - a wider variety of fresh produce at better prices than supermarkets. So why don’t these places see more foot traffic? They lack convenience. To get your hands on the best produce as a buyer, you have to be physically present - often during early hours of the morning and at locations far from home. Farmers also face challenges - with sunk costs to transport their produce, only to have factors like weather or weak demand ruin their efforts.

To address this, AgriMarket Live is a platform to directly connect farmers and buyers - an online farmers’ market with trading-style purchasing to enhance market efficiency and fairness. With real-time bidding mechanisms, the platform ensures transparent price discovery - farmers receive competitive prices while reducing barriers to access for buyers. For farmers and buyers alike, AgriMarket Live is accessible through web interfaces as a cloud-based platform.

FitForYou

FitForYou is a modular fitness application designed for personal trainer and client use. Trainers can create individualised workout routines, while clients can log their completed sessions. The system is to be built using a service based architecture and is containerised using Docker and Docker compose. The application will prioritise modularity, deployability, and interoperability as fey factors in project success.

Cross-Platform Poker Application

This project proposes the development of a highly interoperable poker application designed to seamlessly connect players across various devices, platforms, and client applications. The system will prioritize interoperability, scalability, and reliability to ensure smooth integration between diverse clients and the central server, handle a large number of concurrent users, and deliver consistent performance.

MetaVisualiser (Metadata Visualiser)

MetaVisualiser is a scalable software application to visualise the EXIF metadata across thousands of RAW images captured by professional photographers using full-frame and APS-C cameras in a graphical format. A RAW image’s metadata contains metrics such as focal length, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, camera and lens model. Across thousands of RAW images, the tool should compile, sort and organise the metadata into graphs and tables to display the most frequent settings used based on user selections. Furthermore, the metadata may contain GPS coordinates which should be pinpointed onto a map to create a mapview of where images were taken. Software performance is critical as there are no strict limits on the quantity of metadata but should be able to handle an input up to 10,000 RAW images at once.

Decentralized Forum/Social Media Platform

The increasing centralisation of large social media platforms under a few companies has created an expectation of opaque data practices, manipulative algorithms, and predatory policies. This centralisation is a product of the appeal of a single, unified interface for all interactions, however it can be another way.

This project proposes creating a unified social media platform (starting with a forum or reddit-like interface) hostable by any individual or organisation on decentralized but interconnected servers. By creating a flexible protocol for communication of actions and data between servers, users can maintain the benefits of a single platform while having the freedom to choose hosts that most benefits them - rather than hosts which have a monopoly on the market. Such an open and extensible protocol should also allow much easier interoperability of different styles of social media application, and make developing supporting tooling and performing analytics easier.

TaxMate: AI-Powered Australian Tax Assistant

TaxMate is an intelligent tax preparation assistant designed to guide Australian taxpayers through lodging their tax returns. By leveraging LangChain for conversational AI, Neo4j for tax regulation modelling, and AWS for scalable deployment, TaxMate simplifies tax preparation through automated document processing, personalised deductions, and real-time calculations. So, if you’re that friend who lives out in the sticks or the one in the middle of everyone, your time will be treated with respect equally.

The top three quality attributes for the Later project is availability, extensibility, and interoperability. Brisbane City Reporting App

Have you ever wanted to report an issue to the city council such as a deceased animal on the side of the road, a pothole or a tree that has fallen over but did not know how or who to contract and did not feel like navigating the messy maze of government/council websites? The Brisbane City Reporting application allows citizens to log issues directly with the council and track them. It features a public-facing interface for logging issues and a council-facing interface for managing and resolving them.

UQ (and the larger brisbane area) has a number of sports facilities catered towards team sports that are available for use. However, organising games of basketball or netball can be tough and time consuming, making spur of the moment games inaccessible. Activ-mate aims to bridge this gap and bring together likeminded individuals who are looking to play they’re favourite sport on a whim.

Activ-mate is a team sports organisation platform that allows users to register and find local games happening near them. Once someone starts a game, this information is shared to other users on the map and a live player count is shown for that venue. Additionally, users can add friends and share there activities with them.

A Unified Healthcare Record System

Coordination among healthcare workers is vital for providing unified and wholistic care to patients. Australia’s My Health Record was introduced in 2019 to help with the distribution of digital records among healthcare professionals. However, the My Health system is primarily for pathology or imaging providers and most public or private hospitals. However, it does not allow for coordination among all disciplines of medicine like pharmacy, general practitioners and other specialists. I propose a unified system that allows for simple interdisciplinary communications while allowing patients agency over their sensitive health data.

The system will prioritise interoperability to ensure that the system is able to work with a variety of clinical settings. Secondly, due to the sensitivity of patient data the security of the system is paramount. Finally, the system has to be highly available and scalable to ensure vital information is accessible to healthcare professionals at all times no matter the amount of system traffic.

The system will help healthcare teams to make more informed clinical decisions, prevent errors due to lack of information and therefore help improve care for patients.

CampusTrade will include amazing features such as university ID profile requirements, item listings, secure transactions, profile ratings, messaging functionality and powerful filter systems. By analysing discussion patterns and engagement across social media platforms, Market Pulse enables users to assess how community sentiment correlates with market shifts. UQ Eats: A Campus-Specific Food Delivery System 🍔📚🚶‍♂️

UQ Eats is an innovative food delivery platform designed exclusively for the University of Queensland (UQ) campus. Unlike traditional food delivery services like Uber Eats or DoorDash, UQ Eats allows students to order food and beverages directly to specific buildings, classrooms, and study spaces on campus. The platform also provides an opportunity for students to earn money by signing up as delivery couriers. The key quality attributes prioritised in this project are scalability, interoperability, and deployability. These attributes are critical for ensuring a seamless and efficient food delivery experience that caters to the dynamic campus environment.

CSJobby: One Stop Shop to help CS Students

One-stop shop to help CS Students become prepared for graduate positions. There is an on-going feeling of resentment for the job application process with many minor rejections and feelings of inadequacy. CSJobby is trying to be a platform to help students, even just a little feel like they can regain control in their applications and interviews. Multiple different class paths to work on understanding different programming skills, interview skills and job applications tips and job board. Using a road-map user interface, users are able to feel the progress of their effort. This web-based experience will support desktop platforms only programming practice is better on a laptop. The jobs board will link professional skills in the ad to the possible courses for the user to work on between the application and possible interview stage. Transpologist lets you upload sheet music in multiple file formats, including images, for transposition, playback, and export in a standardised file, such as MusicXML, which is compatible with other editors such as MuseScore and Sibelius. However, there’s a lot more to consider than just the number of bedrooms and bathrooms where manually computing this trade-off between properties can take hours.

Homely is a web-based application that calculates and delivers a rating on available houses in a user’s desired area based on criteria that are important to them. For example, a young family might prioritise living near a top 10 rated primary school, whereas a student would prefer to live in a area where 24/7 public transport is readily available.

This project will focus on the qualities of scalability, interoperability and extensbility (respectively):

With the development of artificial intelligence and large model technologies, an increasing amount of human jobs can be replaced by AI. When Sora generates videos in 3 minutes that used to take 3 days to produce, when Cursor accomplishes tasks in a few hours that would take expert programmers weeks using natural language commands, when ChatGPT solves academic problems through one dialogue that traditionally required traversing hundreds of articles, and when digital humans can simulate micro-expressions in real-time and perform acts that previously needed award-winning acting skills—we are witnessing not just exponential leaps in efficiency but also a shift in productivity paradigms across industries. Against this backdrop, how should humanity proceed? Should we stagnate and wait to be replaced by AI, or should we actively explore and engage in the paradigm revolution of human-machine collaboration? This might be a question worth pondering deeply.

At the current stage, although AI shines brightly in certain specific areas, there are still some deficiencies, mainly reflected in the following aspects:

Physical world boundary restrictions: Presently, AI can help us solve complex professional issues but struggles with more mundane tasks like ordering a coffee.
Reliability limitations: Especially in professional fields such as healthcare and law, despite AI providing seemingly good answers, these cannot be reliably acted upon without certification from professionals.
Problem complexity limitations: AI can easily resolve task-level issues with clear instructions but finds it challenging to tackle project-level issues requiring cross-domain cooperation and truly creative challenges, such as starting a cross-border e-commerce company or building an AI labor market.

Our project aims to address these issues through eAgent and eHR to provide AI services that transcend physical boundaries and ensure reliability through human-expert collaboration. We define this approach as eAgent. It breaks the boundaries of traditional human resources, plans organizational structures based on user needs, and incorporates both human and eAgent labor in solutions to achieve true human-machine synergy.

You can exchange anything, just search in the search bar. For example, if I have played enough of a game console, I can choose to exchange it with others. I have worn a piece of jewelry a few times and believe that even if it loses its freshness, it can still be exchanged. Even a pot of flowers. Don’t worry, our platform has dedicated personnel to evaluate the product and compare it with a large database. There is a strict registration process and confidentiality agreement. Additionally, Multi-Mind integrates with external services such as void-tech.cn, a community-driven technical site operated by the author. This integration allows AI workflows to be embedded in discussions and generated content to be shared seamlessly.

DreamTeam is a mobile and web application designed to help football enthusiasts organize and join local matches with players of similar skill levels. After each match, participants rate all the players on the field on a 1-10 scale, similar to how newspapers evaluate professional footballers. Key contributions such as goals and assists can boost ratings, while ratings from highly rated players have a greater impact on a player’s overall score. FitTrack is an intelligent, user-friendly mobile fitness application aimed at assisting users in achieving their personalized fitness objectives. Through seamless integration with major health data platforms, FitTrack offers real-time data tracking and precise monitoring of fitness progress, ensuring effortless access and continuous engagement for users. Essential quality attributes prioritized by FitTrack include availability, interoperability, and maintainability to ensure continuous operation, effective integration, and ease of enhancements.

PharmaFlow (PF)

We will be creating a web-based application to streamline operations in medical stores, including medicine inventory management, billing, and customer orders. We can work on quality attributes like availability, scalability, deployable, security and modularity. Moreover, I think we can use Microservices architecture to ensure we can provide our quality attributes. Furthermore, we can divide components using the above mentioned archiecture and start working on them individually. Once we reach here, then we can think of further attributes like integrating some data analysis and reports for both users and staff (sales forecast).

We can make use of technologies like React, CSS for front end, Flask for APIs, SQLAlchemy or MySQL for database. Regarding trade offs, I think we might need to prioritise quality attributes like security, availability and reliability. The platform is structured like Reddit, allowing users to create channels, post content, and comment freely. Student verification occurs only during registration to ensure authenticity, but the platform maintains full anonymity thereafter. The system prioritizes scalability, security, and moderation effectiveness to create a reliable and safe community environment.

FinPulse – Internal CRM Platform for Banking

FinPulse is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform used in commercial banks to help customer managers maintain relations with customers. FinPulse can record customer profiles, communication histories, financial product information and automatically alerts users to significant events like product maturities. Besides, FinPulse includes an AI powered financial product recommendation module which can analyze customer profiles and give personal suggestions using a LLM API. This platform is developed on a tech stack including Python/Flask framework, PostgreSQL, Redis and RabbitMQ, and it is containerized with Docker and deployed on AWS. In addition, FinPulse integrates with the bank’s existing Single Sign-On system to realize role-based access control. As for quality attributes, FinPulse can be pretty competitive due to its scalability, extensibility, reliability, security, deployability, and maintainability.

OpenJudge: A Learning-Oriented Code Evaluation Platform

For most computer science students, platforms like LeetCode have become an essential part of learning to code. But have you ever wondered—how would you build a LeetCode clone yourself, and what goes on behind the scenes in the code? More importantly, What can we do to make it more rookie-friendly?

This project aims to build a learning-focused code evaluation platform that puts education first. Unlike traditional online judges that hide test cases and simply return “Wrong Answer,” our platform will open up all test cases—including edge cases and step-by-step test visibility to help users truly understand their mistakes.

Users can submit their code and get instant feedback. If the code fails, the platform will clearly show which test case failed, what the expected and actual outputs were,so that users can debug more effectively without struggling on vague error messages or hidden edge cases.

This project focuses on transparency and learning-oriented feedback, turning the process of solving coding problems into a meaningful learning experience—not just a race to pass hidden tests.
